Flis Performance, LLC has been tapped by Mazda Motorsports to build and support the Battery Tender ® Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Series presented by BFGoodrich cars starting with the 2020 season.
Based in Daytona Beach, Florida, Flis Performance is a partnership between brothers Troy and Todd Flis. From their start at the grassroots level in SCCA, the duo built on their passion for the sport and grew it into a successful IMSA Prototype professional race team.
Combining the lessons learned through their decades in motorsports along with Todd Flis’ business acumen developed in the automotive retail market, Flis Performance is truly a great link between Mazda Motorsports and GMX-5 Cup competitors. Troy’s technical knowledge in the highest echelon of sports car racing brings a magnitude of experience to the series.
Based just down the road from Daytona International Speedway, Flis Performance has established a new headquarters for production and development. Andres Valdes will spearhead the operation, logistics, and inventory for the manufacture of the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup machines.
“Pretty much from the start until we had the DPi, we’ve always built our race cars ourselves,” said Todd Flis. “So to be teaming with Mazda Motorsports to build their cars is something that Troy and I have always wanted to do and we were thrilled to be asked to do it. We’ve been working non stop to be prepared to not only build the latest generation of these cars, but also deliver the kind of customer support that Mazda racers and fans have come to expect.”
